The first function directs power to the left front and left rear light to signal the intent to turn that way. The opposite pair is energized to indicate a right turn. A flasher in the power supply wire cycles on and off to create the flashing light effect. The second function served by these lights is the flashing of all four lights indicating that the vehicle is experiencing some kind of emergency situation. A separate flasher in the power supply to the emergency flasher switch causes the lights to flash when energized. The third function is illuminating of the two rear lights to indicate that the vehicle is stopping. A switch activated by hydraulic pressure or mechanically by the motion of the brake pedal sends power to the rear lights. The three functions are performed by separate systems with their own activating switches but use the same four wires to the four individual lights.

Life was good, but I did, of course, experience hot streaks and cold spells over the course of every season. One of those cold streaks was a week or so when I hooked and lost ten fish in a row on bait , and I was about to go nuts trying to figure out why. Out of desperation, I switched from one brand of hook to another. Although the two were the same size and looked nearly identical at first glance, there were minute differences in their gap and point length.
According to my winter steelhead journal, I landed 11 of the next 12 fish I hooked. That hook-change experience of more than 40 years ago may be an extreme example, and there were more than likely other factors that contributed to my sudden change of fishing fortune, but the episode illustrates the point that choosing the right hook for the situation can sometimes make all the difference between fishing success and failure.
When mooching I go smaller, trolling I go larger. In most of those cases, the hooks are a little too small. There are still a lot of anglers out there who would prefer to use trebles on their salmon lures if they could, but more and more Northwesterners have come to accept—even prefer—single-point hooks. How often have you heard someone say that they seem to hook-up on more strikes when using treble hooks but land a higher percentage of hooked fish when using single-point hooks?
A single hook, on the other hand, is more likely to be taken completely into the mouth, so under tension the hook point is pulled toward you and into solid fish flesh.

Aug 26, · Re: 7 wire turn signal / flasher question I will find a copy of a wiring diagram for a flasher and post it here to see if it is the same. Before that, try hooking up a regular (incandescent) light in place of one of the LED turn signals and see if that fixes your problem.
Reply thanks for the enlightment. This tweak worked for my car too. I used fixed resistor, I put in series with the original resistor. I learnt out it is no difference whether you replace only one or all with LED, the hyper-blinking frequency still the same 2. The better solution is by modifying the shunt wire. There is tutorial in doing this: I would proberbly work if the wire is replaced with a 0.
This would give enough voltage over the resistor so the chip would think that the load is higher: The overall advantage is that you adjust the blink speed while utilising low power draw LED’s, unlike other solutions which include adding ballast resistors to create the same amount of power load!

Hoochie leaders should also be on the shorter side of the spectrum in relation to the leader lengths used for plugs, spoons, and plug cut baits. A short and heavy leader means that the lightweight hoochie will be close to the flasher and as the flasher revolves, it will yank the hoochie around through the water causing significant action to the hoochie.
If the leader material was not as heavy, or, if the length of the leader was increased, then the effect the flasher has on the hoochie would be diminished. Lowrance Tips and Tricks For those of you that own the newer units there are a lot of hidden features that you can release to help you out while on the water. First of all download the emulators that Lowrance has on there site, I couldn’t get the to work on my computer so that’s why all the pictures show the LCX unit. You can do almost anything with the emulators that you can do with your unit, so you can play with the unit on your PC before you ever hit the water with it.
For those of you that freak out over the transducer going click, click, click, in the water while anchored down rather than shut down the unit completely you can simply go to full mapping and the sonar is shut off while your in mapping mode. While your in mapping mode, if you hit the exit button three times real fast a analog speedometer will pop up along with the miles you have traveled, I haven’t been able to figure out how to reset the odometer back to zero yet but I’m working on it.
The speedometer is fully functional and just looks cool if your out cruising on the water. Now granted my boat is never going to see mph so that also can be changed. This will then place a hidden file on the card that you will never see call ID. With this ID file created, the memory card can then be used with a non-Lowrance supplied card reader you can download maps from Lowrance then upload to your unit, or better yet upload it to your emulator then you can add waypoints or routes and change all kinds of things on the map then upload to your unit.
You can also share waypoints with friends by sending the chip back in forth in the mail. I was brought up using a flasher unit the old Green Box Lowrance so I got pretty good at reading one of them, when I’m on the move I like to see what is directly under the boat, the LCD will print it out but not as fast as the flasher.
So this is what you do while in sonar mode once again hit the exit button three times real fast what you can set-up is to have the flasher on one side and the LCD on the other so you really don’t miss anything, and red on the flasher means Fish so I like to run the bottom tracker which turns the bottom to the brown color.

A Salmon can eat thousands of herring, but only one cut plug. Trolling speed for many fish needs to be within certain parameters. If you have a inboard or large outboard motor that is incapable of slowing down to a “fishable” speed, there alternatives that can be utilized IF you do not use a smaller trolling motor. There are a couple of brands of spring loaded trolling plates that attach to the cavitation plate of larger motors what place a large restriction right behind the prop.
These can be lifted when underway with no restriction at that time. This is not the time to drag a 5 gallon bucket to slow you down. It may be past time to purchase a smaller trolling motor because you can not afford the off chance that a line to your “Slow Down Bucket” to get tangled in the prop. I have personally used Cannon manual and electrics, Penn manuals, and Scotty manual and electrics. Each one has different features, some of a benefit over others.
My suggestion is to go with friends who have other brands to get a chance to use as many as possible before you lay out the amount of cash involved. I had never even seen a downrigger used before I purchased my first Cannons and I had a very steep learning curve.
